Aldar re-appoints Vindico Retail to Yas Island Mall

Aldar Properties PJSC has re-appointed Vindico Retail to its Yas Island Mall retail and leisure development in Abu Dhabi.

Vindico was originally appointed retail delivery managers to the project in 2008. The role was re-tendered in line with the project's revised forecast opening in the first quarter of 2014, with the scope expanded to include tenant design review. The appointment follows a four-month competitive tender process managed directly by Aldar.

Peter Row, Founding Director, says the investment in an in-house retail and technical design team is what allows Vindico to offer tenant coordination and design review as one integrated service, and that the client has shown faith in the benefits of that approach.

The team is looking forward to again working with the regional tenants and international brands we have built relationships with on our other projects in Abu Dhabi. Aldar's construction programme is progressing well and the client has strong expectations of what it wants from its tenants in design.

Yas Mall is Abu Dhabi's first super-prime regional shopping centre, on Yas Island beside the Yas Marina Formula One circuit and Ferrari World. Abu Dhabi's only IKEA store, trading since 2010, is one of six anchors among 450 speciality and food and beverage outlets across the 2.6 million square foot development.

Vindico's role covers retail delivery management and tenant design review. The construction of the centre and the fit-out of individual stores sit with Aldar's contractors and the brands.
