The Galleria Al Maryah Island's expansion opened, adding more than 250 shops and restaurants to the Abu Dhabi destination.

The expansion of The Galleria Al Maryah Island has opened, taking the Abu Dhabi retail and dining destination to over 400 shops and 100 restaurants.
The expansion adds more than 250 new shops and restaurants to the luxury collection that opened in 2013. Vindico Retail supported Gulf Related with design and management services through an embedded on-site team working alongside the Dubai studio, across the design and fit-out phases.
We are extremely proud of how the expansion of The Galleria has opened. We have enjoyed navigating the development process with the Gulf Related team and all of the tenants and their suppliers who have brought this building and its brands together for customers to enjoy.
Mohammed Sharief, Senior Retail Delivery Manager and project lead, Vindico
The team worked with international brands including Debenhams, VOX Cinemas, The Cheesecake Factory, Zara and H&M, and with their local licensees and design and fit-out suppliers, to support on-time delivery of their new Galleria locations.
Paul Mathews, Chief Operating Officer, notes that Vindico has worked with Gulf Related and Mubadala on The Galleria since 2011, and that a client who shares a belief in the importance of getting shops and restaurants open — over the distractions the development process can bring — is what sustains a working relationship of that length.
Gulf Related is a joint venture between The Related Companies of New York and Gulf Capital of Abu Dhabi, developing The Galleria in partnership with Mubadala, master developer for Sowwah Square and Al Maryah Island.
Vindico's role covered retail delivery design and management. The construction of the expansion and the fit-out of each store sat with Gulf Related's contractors and the brands.
