A retail destination that is still being built needs its design rules in place before its tenants start to design. Once leasing is under way, every brand needs to know what the property will accept.

Knowledge Economic City, the master developer of Multaqa Al Madinah, has appointed Vindico Retail to prepare the design guidelines for the mall. Leasing is already under way. Apparel Group has signed 24 fashion, lifestyle and food and beverage brands for the mall, ten of them new to Madinah. Those brands, and every tenant after them, will design to the guidelines. Because the guidelines are designed to connect leasing to the design review and delivery that follow, a brand can move from signed lease to open store against one set of rules.

Guidelines are the first thing a tenant reads and the last thing a property can change cheaply. Writing them while leasing is under way means the first brands in design are working to the same rules as the last.
Paul Mathews, Chief Operating Officer

Vindico's role is the design guidelines. The development, leasing and operation of Multaqa Al Madinah sit with Knowledge Economic City.
