Vindico Retail and The Design Solution triumph in airport design competition
Abu Dhabi Airports selected the Vindico Retail and Design Solution joint venture to take the Midfield Terminal's retail design forward.
A joint venture between Vindico Retail and the airport planners and designers The Design Solution has been appointed by Abu Dhabi Airports Company to continue developing design proposals for the Midfield Terminal project in Abu Dhabi.
In an industry first, Abu Dhabi Airports appointed two consortia to prepare competing proposals for the terminal's retail planning and design, with the preferred solution advancing into detailed planning. The fast-track process involved a series of formal presentations and workshops to a judging panel of airport executives and industry experts.
The Midfield Terminal will be home to Etihad Airways, with capacity for 40 million passengers a year.
Vindico's role in the joint venture covers retail delivery expertise within the planning and design appointment. The terminal is developed by Abu Dhabi Airports Company and built by its contractors.
