Nature-inspired retail at Cityland Mall

Vindico Retail has been appointed to deliver the retail at Cityland Mall in Dubai, a 350-unit development built around a 200,000 square foot central park.

The 1.2 million square foot scheme will be anchored by a Carrefour hypermarket operated by Majid Al Futtaim Retail, a VOX Cinemas complex and the Scandinavian home furnishing brand JYSK.

The solution covers all four of Vindico's products — Content, Design, Manage and OnSite — inside a service level agreement built to accommodate development risk on a large-scale retail project. Richard Kim, Managing Director, says Cityland embraced the productised, unit-centric approach, and that the client's nature-inspired vision is supported by a focus on the fundamentals of a shopping and dining experience: shops and restaurants that are open.

Kayleigh Pullinger, Senior Retail Delivery Manager and project lead, is coordinating the studio and site teams. She notes that many of Cityland's incoming brands are firms the team has worked with before, and that not being locked into a site-based solution lets the design and management teams integrate more effectively, lets tenant and brand designers across the region engage more efficiently, and allows the site team to be sized to the number of tenants actually on site.

Vindico's role covers content, design, management and on-site retail delivery. The development of the centre and the fit-out of each unit sit with Cityland Group and the brands.
