Hammerson has appointed Vindico Retail as retail design guardian to Victoria Gate in Leeds, creating the scheme's retail design guidelines and running design review through to opening.

Hammerson, one of the UK's leading owners of retail property, has appointed Vindico Retail as retail design guardians for the Victoria Gate shopping centre development in Leeds.
Anchored by a 405,000 square foot John Lewis department store, Victoria Gate brings high-end fashion and restaurant brands to one of the UK's leading retail city centres. Vindico will create the scheme's retail design guidelines and provide ongoing design review and support.
Peter Row, Founding Director, says the appointment by a developer of Hammerson's standing underlines Vindico's retail delivery design credentials, and that the team brings knowledge of luxury brands from other projects and markets — the Terminal 5 luxury redevelopment at Heathrow, and Vindico's role on The District in Abu Dhabi. Linda Mitchell, Retail Design Director, leads the team at Victoria Gate.
We are very passionate in working to get the best outcome for the brands and the centre. Hammerson and John Lewis have set the bar high, in a sophisticated retail city with the pedigree of the Victoria Quarter reminding us how successful the meeting the needs of brands and buildings can be.
Linda Mitchell, Retail Design Director, Vindico
Victoria Gate is programmed to open in October 2016.
Vindico's role covers the retail design guidelines and the design review of tenant proposals against them. Delivery of individual fit-outs sits with the retailers and their contractors.
